		<description>Best friends turned band-mates, the lady and gentlemen of Branches are an independent, self-writing and self-producing collective. Birthed in a living room in the suburbs of Los Angeles in 2010, Tyler, Natalie, Jacob, Mitch, Tyler, and Mike have since spent their time together making friends, playing shows, and writing and recording the songs for their EPs ("O, Light!", "Cabin", "Covers", "Songs For Christmas") and their full-length ("Thou Art The Dream", released 2/12).



In their debut EP, 'O, Light!', and their sophomore release, 'Cabin', Branches offered an eight-song sample of their sound. Through both singalong celebration and solitary longing, the sounds of 'O, Light!' and 'Cabin' provide the full spectrum of what this band is capable of: Indie-folk-rock-family-fun in a style that has been compared to the likes of Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons, and Freelance Whales.

Pouring as much creativity and imagination into every live experience as they have into their studio recordings, they have been honored to sing in such notable California venues like the Cafe Du Nord (San Francisco), the Hotel Cafe (Hollywood) &#38; the Glass House (Pomona), where the band first opened for Tyrone Wells. In April 2011, the band celebrated their first TV spot when their song "Maps of Wars" (O, Light!) was featured on an episode of One Tree Hill (CW), and have since enjoyed a second placement on One Tree Hill, as well as placements on Teen Mom (MTV), The X Factor (Fox), and Netflix original series "Hemlock Grove".

After nearly a year of dreaming, writing, recording, eating, and praying, Branches are thrilled and proud to have released their first full-length album, "Thou Art The Dream". This collection of thirteen songs explore the ideas of doubt, faith, loneliness, love, and above all, hope for life as it was meant to be. About these songs and others, Tyler says, "We write songs that we believe and make music we'd want to listen to. It's just much more fun that way." In addition to a fuller track listing, this album also features a wider array of instrumentation, adding ukulele, trombone, trumpet, violin, toy organ, and other fun noises to their existing instrumental buffet. In the wake of its release, Branches are gearing up for another fun year of traveling, singing, and making friends.

When they're not writing, recording, or playing out up and down the west coast, the band spends their time laughing  at each other, frequenting local Mexican cuisine, and loving their lives. Join them for a night of singing and see for  yourself what their music is all about.

We are in the running to open for MUTEMATH, Family of the Year, Shiny Toy Guns, and Devo on 6/1 at Oysterfest 2013 in San Francisco, CA, but we need your votes to make it happen!

We, Branches, are total nerds at heart. 

Jacob has a framed photo of Albert Einstein hung in his studio, Tyler watched the entire Battle Star Galactica series in a matter of weeks, and Natalie knits while listening to the Lord of The Rings soundtrack. Really. 

So for us, there's almost nothing cooler than getting to see our music used for something as nerdy and awesome as a Netflix original series about WEREWOLVES.

We're stoked to announce that you can hear our song, "In The Morning", featured in the opening sequence of the final installment (Ep. 13) of "Hemlock Grove", available to stream now exclusively on Netflix.

For us here in Branches, this is probably our favorite time of the year..in California, we're heading into what we call "winter" (what those of you in other places in the world probably call "fall")..Thanksgiving is over, and in our tryptophan comas, we dream of christmas trees and cocoa, snowmen and carols..and every year about this time, us Branches get excited to show you some Christmas songs we've been working on..

Well, that day has come, and our new Christmas EP, "Songs For Christmas" is now available for FREE, here!

Phew.

Well...two months and twenty-six shows later, we have officially wrapped up our first Summer Tour...
and all we can say is "thank you."

Thanks God, for providing in little and big ways since day one.
Thanks to the friends and family that told us this was a good idea.
Thanks to everyone who helped us spread the word in the early days.
Thanks to our parents who, instead of telling us to get real jobs, come to our shows wearing our t-shirts.
Thanks to everyone who let us sleep on their couches and share meals with them.
Thanks to all the bands we played with and swapped CDs with. We've listened to almost all of them so far :)
Thanks to all the people who booked us, ran sound for us, and served our friends drinks.
Thanks to everyone who gave us free shirts, food, stickers, and coffee.
Thanks to Invisible Children, for fighting a good fight and believing in us enough to want us to be a part of it. 
Thanks to our new friends at TOMS. We've loved getting to know you, and are excited to do more together in the future!
Thanks minivan, for not dying. You are such a trooper.
Thanks to everyone who came and saw us. It may seem obvious, but there would be no us without you.
Thanks to everyone who came and saw us multiple times on this tour. You deserve a medal.
Thanks for all the love, support, encouragement, memories, and fun. We are humbled and thankful that we have the opportunity to do this with our lives. We promise to keep doing the best job we can to be deserving of such support. Stick around. We like you a lot.

So now what?

Well, first things first, Branches is gonna take a nap for a few weeks. 
THEN, further up and further in! 

Coming off of this tour, we're so excited for the possibilities of the future. More music, more merch, more traveling, more burritos...so stay tuned, and in the meantime, if you haven't seen it yet, enjoy our latest 'Cover of the Month'!

For July, we chose to do a song that we opened nearly every show on tour with. It became one of the theme songs for our tour, and we were so happy to work with Josh Harney Productions on this one. Well friends, it's time we made it official. Deep breath....here it is:

On February 10th, we, the lady and gentlemen of Branches, are releasing our first full-length album, Thou Art The Dream!!!

After months and months of dreaming, writing, laughing, recording, and traveling, we couldn't be happier about the thirteen songs we're getting ready to release to you. Experimenting with broader sounds, instrumentation, and imagination, this album is something we're incredibly proud of, and its debut couldn't come soon enough!

With that, we are releasing our single, "Helicopter" for free on NoiseTrade now!!

Well, it's been an amazing couple of months. 
We have made some new friends, written some new songs, and have been granted some amazing opportunities.

The first exciting piece of news (redundant as it may be) is that we have a new website!! Welcome to it! This site was designed by our insanely talented friend Greg Christian over at Sticks Stones in San Francisco, and we couldn't be happier about it. This will be our main hub from now on as we update you with news, photos, merch, and more good stuff in the future.

Secondly, as you may have seen on our welcome page, we are releasing our first full-length album NEXT MONTH. Jeez. Too cool. This album has been nearly a year in the making, and features what we believe to be the most exciting and honest songs we've ever written. We can't wait to share them with you. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a more in-depth preview...

Thirdly, and more immediately, we are so excited to say that our song, "Sleeper"* will be featured on the season premier of One Tree Hill tonight, Wednesday 1/11 at 8/7c on the CW! This is our second time being featured on OTH and we're stoked for round two. Tune in with us and see what antics those crazy teenagers are up to this time around...
